‘Transfer Centac fraud case to CBI’

The Puducherry unit of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK) reitrated its demand for a CBI investigation into the allegations of irregularities in the distribution of financial assistance to CENTAC- sponsored professional students.

A resolution adopted by the party office bearers here said that the tuition fees of students under the Centac scheme were swindled by transferring it to the accounts of fake beneficiaries.

The party alleged that officials of the Higher Education Department in collusion with some banks were involved in it. The rsolution said that only a thorough probe by the the CBI would bring out the truth and the real culprits to book.

The party, in another resolution, urged the UT administration to  withdraw the power tariff hike,failing which the party would organise agitations till it is rolled back. They also urged the Central government to take immediate steps for the release of 26 Karaikal fishermen, who are still langushing in  the Sri Lankan jail and urged to take steps to re-open the Anglo-French Textile mills.
