Five persons, including two women, died and two children were seriously injured after their car rammed a tree near Pochampalli on Wednesday.
Police said Raja (45) of Amman Koilpathi village along with with his wife Malarvizhi (40), daughter Vasika (15), son Vasanth (11), father-in-Law Palani (60) and mother-in-Law Padma (55) was returning home from Karuppanna Swamy temple near Madurai on Tuesday night. When the car neared Puliyur around 4.30 am on Wednesday, the driver lost control and rammed the vehicle on a Tamarind tree. Raja, Malarvizhi, Palani, Padma and Rajendran died on the spot while Vasika and Vasanth suffered seriously injuries and were admitted to the ICU at the GH.
