'Boycott Commonwealth meet in Sri Lanka'

A large gathering of cadre belonging to the DMK, Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) and Vidhuthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) on Thursday staged a protest under the aegis of the Tamil-Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO), as part of the State-wide agitation, demanding that the Indian government boycott the Commonwealth meeting, slated to be held in Colombo in November this year.

Led by the DMK’s joint secretary V P Duraisamy, the speakers recalled how the DMK had been supporting the SL Tamils since 1956. They also said TESO had insisted that India should ensure that the island nation did not dilute the 13th Amendment. It had also called for action from the Centre to protect Indian fishermen from being attacked and abducted.

DMK R district secretary Gandhi, organiser Mohamed Saquee and district president of DK Sadagopan spoke.
