The state committee of the CPM has expelled M Arjunan, Chairman of the Sivaganga Municipality, from primary membership and all other posts he held in the party. The decision to remove him came after enquiries revealed that allegations against him of misusing elected post for personal gain through graft were true. The decision to expel Arjunan from the party came at the CPM’s state committee meet on August 5 and 6. The meeting was presided over by the party’s central committee member TK Rangarajan.
