Job racket: Cheating case against duo

About a dozen people lodged complaints of cheating against two persons alleging that the duo promised them jobs and had taken about Rs 36,000 from each of them.

They said the duo had collected their details from online job sites and contacted them. “One Sankara Vadivel contacted us and promised a junior manager position. He said he had several inside contacts in AAI. We just had to pay one month salary as a fee. But later, he demanded Rs 16,000 for uniforms for us,” said Arun, one of the complainants.

Sankara Vadivel had referred the complainants to Chandru, asking them to pay the cash to him. “He made us come to a coffee shop in Tambaram, where he colleted the money,” said Senthil, another complainant.

He again collected Rs16,000 to release the job order. “But when we did not get appointment orders and some of us questioned him, he asked for a third installment. We refused to pay him any more and he then became evasive,” said Arun. Police said they are verifying the facts of the allegations.
