7,991 write TET in Puducherry, Karaikal

As many as 7,991 candidates appeared for the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) conducted in Puducherry and Karaikal regions of the Union Territory. The exam was held in 9 centres in Puducherry and 3 in Karaikal.

According to Director of School Education,  3,857 secondary grade teachers, who teach primary class students, took the exam on Saturday while 4,134 graduate assistants, who were eligible to teach students from Class VI to Class VIII appeared for the exam on Sunday.

A total of 4,308 applied for the TET from both the regions.

Sunday being the last day of the test, over 24,000 candidates wrote the exam in Chennai. Over four lakh candidates from across the Tamil Nadu took the test from over a 1,000 centres.

The attendance for the examination was 97.20 per cent for Tamil Nadu and 94.96 per cent for Chennai. No untoward incidents were reported from anywhere in the State, informed the Teacher’s Recruitment Board.
