Names misspelt in Class X and XII certificates? It may be a thing of past, atleast in Madurai region. Regional Deputy Director of Government Examinations here has directed parents of students set to appear in board examination for 2013-14 to submit a declaration stating the actual spelling of their wards’ names to avoid errors in mark sheets.

According to a press release from the office of the Regional Deputy Director, the declaration form would be given to 10th and 12th standard students. The form would have a column for the desired spelling of the name that the candidate wished to appear in the mark sheets.

Besides the name, the students would also be required to provide information related to date of birth and community as mentioned in their respective birth and community certificates. The forms need to be submitted to the HMs of the respective schools before October 7.
