CPI lauds Jaya for stance on alliances

The State unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Wednesday passed a resolution at a state executive committee meeting welcoming Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s recent announcement that the AIADMK would not have any truck with either the BJP or the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The CPI also condemned the UPA’s failure to notify  the final award of the Cauvery Tribunal. “The Centre should immediately gazette the order and save Delta farmers by getting rightful water from Karnataka,” a resolution demanded.

It sought the allocation of entire power produced in the Neyveli, Vallur and Kalpakkam plants for TN.

The Left party also announced that it would hold a conference for communal harmony in Tiruchy on January 21 as it condemned those trying to whip up caste frenzy in the state.
