Chandra to be PU’s first woman Vice-Chancellor

The Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor Prof J A K Tareen will demit office on February 1. Prof (Mrs) Chandra Krishnamurthy, Vice-Chancellor of the National Law University Odisha, (NULO), is slated to take over on the same day as the first woman VC of the university.

In a message, Prof Tareen, who was in office for five years and nine months, thanked the people of the Union Territory, students and parents for their support and cooperation in making PU one of the fastest growing central universities in the country.

The university had achieved 300 per cent growth in all areas in the past five years. Over 22 new departments and 100 new programmes had been started.
