Five youth, including a private school teacher, were arrested here on Sunday for sexually abusing an 18-year-old schoolgirl for nearly a year. They had also filmed it and used the clip to blackmail her and sexually abuse her.
Police said Saran Raj (25), who was working as a teacher at a private school, Ruban (24), Vimal (25), Amarnath (24) and Vijay Kumar (24) of Bagar Hussain Street in Pernambut Town were arrested for sexually exploiting and blackmailing their neighbour’s daughter, a class XII student of a government school.
Though they had been sexually exploiting the girl for nearly a year, the shocking incident came to light after her mother found out that her daughter was in trouble. After repeated questioning, she narrated the incidents to her mother. After coming to know about it, the girl’s brother lodged a complaint with the All Women Police Station in Gudiyattam a few days ago.
After investigations, police found that Saran Raj befriended the girl a year ago. Within a few months, he developed a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage.
Raja’s friends made videos of the girl and Raj in compromising positions. Since then they had been blackmailing her saying they would upload the videos and pictures on the Internet if she did not do as they told her. They also threatened and demanded money from her. Scared over this, she had given them some of her jewels.
Acting on the complaint, police picked up the five youth for inquiry on Saturday. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime. The police also found evidence against them after they found the videos and photographs on their mobile phones.
Based on their confessions and the material evidences, police registered a case against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code under the Child Sexual Offences Act and Information Technology Act.
They were remanded to the Vellore Central Prison for men.
