More than 1,000 complaints filed over Marakkanam

More than 1,000 complaints have been received against PMK men from people affected by the Marakkanam violence and from various departments of the State government.

T S Sridhar, Commissioner of Revenue Administration who is also the Inquiry Officer, in the cases against the PMK partymen to recover the penalty for damaging public properties during the April 25 violence, informed this to mediapersons.

Sridhar said the complaints have been received from departments like Highways, Public Works, TASMAC, Transport and Police, besides people affected by the violence. On the second day of hearing, 59 cases filed by the transport corporations in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts came up for hearing. 

PMK MLA Kaduvetti Guru and around 30 others who appeared before the Inquiry Officer filed their vakkalaths. Guru, at present in Puzhal prison, came to the venue with police protection. PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss who came to meet Guru, criticised the State government for claiming damages from the PMK for violence.
