Two-wheeler rider hurt in explosion

A motorist was injured after he accidentally rode his two-wheeler over a country bomb that was found abandoned on a road near Hosur here on Monday.

Police said that Harish (33), son of Muniappa of Kalingavaram village near Soolagiri, was proceeding to his farm in a two-wheeler on Monday morning. On the way, he accidentally rode over an unidentified object and suddenly it exploded. In the impact he sustained serious injuries.

According to the statement given to police by Harish the object exploded with a huge sound.

Passerby, who noticed the incident, immediately informed the police. On information, a team from the district police including the ‘Q’ branch held an enquiry with the victim. A team of forensice officials also inspected the scene.

According to sources, the police was not fully convinced with the version of Harish.

The ‘Q’ branch personnel suspect that he might have taken the bomb to place keep it in his farm to protect his crops from wild boars.

On a thorough check of the vehicle, the cops found a polythene cover containing two unexploded country bombs, which added to their suspicion. When enquired about these bombs, Harish could not give a proper reply.

Police registered a case and are investigating.
