Hunger stir by NLC workers enters day two

The indefinite hunger strike by activists of the various trade unions protesting the proposal for disinvestment of the shares of the NLC entered its second day on Sunday. Nearly 177 workers took part in the protest, held near the “Q” bridge of the NLC township.

Trade unions are pinning their hopes on the meeting between the SEBI and Tamil Nadu officials in Mumbai on Monday. The outcome of the talks coupled with a firm assurance from the Centre may end the agitation, one of the leaders told Express. He also said that the trade union would approach all the political parties seeking their support for the general strike on July 18, in case the outcome of the meeting is disappointing.
