A sub-divisional magistrate inquest has been ordered into the death of a 26-year-old married woman, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging self from a ceiling fan in Karugampathur village, around 7 pm on Saturday night.

The deceased, Rekha, married D Mohan (28), a lorry cleaner three years ago. The couple had an 18-month-old daughter.

Police also found a suicide note hidden beneath Rekha’s bed, which stated that her in-laws and husband were responsible for her suicide as they had been harassing her demanding more dowry.

A case was filed and forwarded to the revenue divisional officer for an inquest.
