Woman's throat slit in house, chain missing

A 32-year-old woman was found with her throat slit, at her residence in Kodungaiyur on Tuesday. A gold chain was found missing from the victim’s neck.

The victim S Pushpalatha’s body was discovered by her 10-year-old daughter Oviya, a class 6 student, on her return from school. Pushpalatha and her husband Srinivasan (40), who works in a timber depot, resided in MR Nagar, sources said.

On Tuesday, Srinivasan left for work, but Pushpalatha, who works in an export company, stayed at home, the sources said. Her body was reportedly found in the nude and a four- and- half sovereign gold chain missing. Police, who found red chilli powder on the scene of crime, suspect that the chain could have been taken away as a diversionary tactic. They are investigating the case from different angles.    In July last, a 36-year-old nurse M Sumathi was found dead with her throat slit at her house in the same locality and police are yet to crack the case.
