Crack on track delays two trains

Two Chennai-bound express trains were delayed by an hour after a crack was found on the railway track near Arakkonam, in the wee hours of Thursday.

The crack on the railway track between Mahendravadi and Sitheri railway stations was found around 2.30 am on Thursday.  Sholinghur and Arakkonam railway officials were alerted and a team was sent to restore the section.

Meanwhile, Bangalore Express was stopped at Mahendravadi railway station and Nilgris Express from Mettupalayam was stopped at Sholinghur. The crack was fixed in an hour following which trains services resumed.
