Kodungaiyur victim murdered by tailor

The tailor who was arrested in connection with the murder of a woman at Kondungaiyur on Thursday confessed that he had killed her since she refused to give him money.

V Ramakrishnan (30) alias Ramu emerged as the main suspect after the body of S Pushpalatha (32) was found by her 10-year-old daughter at her residence in 86th Street in MR Nagar. A gold chain was found missing from the murdered woman’s neck.

Investigation by the police showed that the victim and Ramu had worked as tailors for the same company and knew each other for more than four years. Ramu was also spotted in the vicinity of Pushpalatha’s house on the day of the incident. Hence, the cops suspected that the two were having a relationship and felt that they met on the fatal day and quarreled.

Ramu, a resident of Red Hills, absconded soon after the incident and was finally arrested by a special police team at Periyapalayam on Wednesday night. During interrogation, he reportedly claimed to have spent the afternoon with Pushpalatha and then demanded Rs10,000 from her to repay his debts.

Police said when she refused, a furious Ramu her to death and escaped.
