'Slap NSA on PMK cadre'

AIADMK Floor leader A Anbazhagan on Tuesday urged Chief Minister N Rangasamy to  book the PMK cadre who indulged in violence following the removal of a statue of S S Ramasami Padayachi, under the National Security Act.

Making a special mention during zero hour in the Assembly on Tuesday, he urged the government to take effective steps to demand compensation from those who damage public properties as done by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha.

Anbazhagan pointed out that the PMK volunteers had erected a statue of former minister Ramswami Padayachi at Madagadippet near here without obtaining permission from the government and that the police removed the statue overnight.

Protesting against this, over 100 PMK volunteers indulged in violence at Madagadippet.  Several buses were damaged in the stone-pelting and a three-year-old girl, who sustained injuries, was admitted to the hospital. They also staged a road blockade, forcing the police to resort to lathicharge, in which five were injured.
