Secunderabad boy tops JIPMER exam

Kunal Ramesh Chandekar of Secunderabad has topped the JIPMER MBBS entrance test merit list securing 174 out of 200 marks, followed by Hemanth Amardeep Santhoor of Bengaluru and TNC Pranav of Hyderabad with 172 marks each, according to JIPMER results released on Thursday.

Bayye Swapna from Kovvur in West Godavari topped in the Scheduled Caste category with 161 marks while Kathipri Nelia from Imphal in Manipur topped the Scheduled Tribe section with 146 marks. Anubhab Bhattacharya of Kolkata topped the orthopaedically challenged category with 169 marks.

Among the Puducherry candidates, Karthikeyan M topped with 166 marks, Sushma T (in OBC category) with 164 marks and Monisha Pria E (in SC category) with 133 marks.

In the NRI category, Sukumar Kalavapudi of Hyderabad topped, followed by Duddukunta Vishal Reddy of Vijayawada.

The total number of seats available for admission is 150, with 51 of them under the general category, 27 under OBC, 15 under SC and eight under ST categories. Besides, for Puducherry candidates (40 seats), there are 23 general seats, 11 OBC seats and six SC seats. Also, five seats are allocated for NRIs and four each for central government nominations, orthopaedically challenged and horizontal reservation.

The results could be found in the website www.jipmer.edu.in from June 2013 onwards.

The candidates in the merit list are required to send attested copies of the rank list/mark sheet printed out from the JIPMER website, birth certificate, Plus Two mark sheet and pass certificate, transfer certificate, residence certificate and community certificate before June 29 to the Registrar of JIPMER.

The counselling for admission would be conducted on  July 11 and 12 and selection order will be issued on July 15. The classes commence on July 17. The candidates are required to appear in person for biometric verification and no authorisation letter will be entertained, according to a release from Dean JIPMER, Dr K S Reddy.
