CM-Montek meet on TN allocation

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is set to meet Union Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia in New Delhi on Monday, to discuss Tamil Nadu’s Annual Plan for 2013-14.

The meeting is meant to finalise the central allocation for various plan expenditures for the State in the current fiscal year.

The Jayalalithaa-led government has received higher allocations year-on-year from the Centre for its plan expenditure over the past two years, and this trend may be expected to grow in the current year as well.

The meeting with Ahluwalia comes just a month after the Assembly Budget Session, in which Jayalalithaa and her cabinet ministers had repeatedly taken shots at the Centre for not releasing the allocated funds to the State over the past two years.

The government had said that the implementation of various welfare schemes had been affected due to the tardiness of the Centre in releasing the funds it had allocated for Tamil Nadu under the Annual Plans for the respective years.
