Man kills dad in domestic tiff, caught with body in van

A man murdered his father for attacking his mother in a drunken mood here on Sunday night.

Sources said that Palanisamy (54), a mutton stall worker, was staying in a house at Karungalpalayam with his wife Vijaya, son Bubathiraja 26 and daughter Saratha (17). Palanisamy, a habitual drunkard, did not go to job regularly. Often he used to come home in an inebriated condition and attack his wife and son and relatives.

Meanwhile, his son rented his van to one Soundar of Vendipalayam, a private firm staff. As usual, Palanisamy came in drunken mood on Sunday and assaulted wife and daughter. Upset over this, Vijaya informed about this to her son over phone.

Bubathiraja immediately rushed home in his van with Soundar and questioned his father. It led to an altercation between the father and the son. At one point, in a fit of rage, Bubathiraja, strangulated his father to death. Shocked by his death, he took his body in the van, with Soundar at the wheel, and dispose it in a far off place.

When the van was parked near the Bull Fight Junction at 3.30 am, police on bandobust duty, inquired them and found the body in the van. The cops alerted the Karungalpalayam police, as the crime was committed in their limits. Following this Bubathiraja and Soundar were arrested and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
