Mystery shrouds death of 2 siblings

A four-year-old boy and his two year-old sister died under mysterious circumstances near Dharmapuri.

The police identified the victims as Mano Ananth (4) and  his two-year-old sister Mathumitha, children of T Amudha and S Thambithurai, a driver of a private school bus, of A Papparappatti village in Dharmapuri district.

Amudha, a D Ted qualified candidate, is preparing for TET exams. Before leaving for classes on Sunday, she left her children in her mother’s house in Kuppusettipatti village. Later, her father  Kuppusamy took the kids along with him into the field. They spent the whole day in the field. After returning home, both the kids started vomiting and they fainted.

The grandparents and relatives rushed them to a private clinic. Later they were referred to the Government Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital. But Mano Ananth died around midnight on Sunday. His  sister Mathumitha also died in the wee hours of Monday.

Sources said the possibility of the kids consuming some poisonous substances or pesticide in the field cannot be ruled out. However, the actual cause of death can be ascertained only after a chemical test, they added.

The Indur police have registered a case.
