Seven minor marriages stopped in single day

As many as seven minor marriages were stopped on a single day on Tuesday by an official team comprising personnel from the Police, Revenue and Social Welfare Departments, besides Childline. All the girls, who were to be married off, were under the age of 18. The places where the minor marriage bid was thwarted were Aniyapuram, Thottipatti, Kaliannancoil street and Kadachanallur in Thiruchengode, Kolli Hills, Venkarai near Paramathi-Velur and Thummankurichy near Namakkal, an officer said.
