CENTAC sponsored students of higher education affected by the scam in Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Financial Assistance Scheme implemented by the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education have lodged individual complaints with the Vigilance and Anti Corruption on Saturday.

The students who have not received the financial assistance so far, have submitted their complaint by noting their CENTAC number, bank account number, year of admission, and the name of the college where they are studying.

These students belong to the batches admitted from 2008 onwards. In fact, the 2008 batch of students had completed their studies without having received the financial assistance.

So far preliminary inquiries have shown that Rs 22 lakh has been misappropriated that was meant for 32 students including eight medical students, 22 engineering students, one BEd and one MCA student.

By and large, the non-eligible  beneficiaries who are not students have their accounts with State Bank of India, Thattanchavady and Indian Bank at Amudhasurabhi building, sources said.
