Road users and motorists here have demanded that the service lanes on NH-46 at Sathuvachari be cleared of sand particles as it posed the risk of accidents.

Vaishnav, a post-graduate student said, “Dusty winds are very common during this month. As such, the sand particles enter the eyes of riders. Besides, this also causes vehicles to skid, leading to accidents.”

The service lanes on both sides of the NH- 46 in Sathuvachari, especially the stretch from the Collector office till Rangapuram, are dusty due to the presence of sand particles.

Shopkeepers on the service lanes complained that the sand was left behind by sand-laden bullock carts, 20 of which which pass through  the road every day.

Karthika, a two-wheeler rider, said that due to the presence of the sand particles  motorists drive in the middle of the road, affecting smooth flow of traffic.
