Bribe case: Hall manager suspended

A day after the manager of the State Government theatre Anna Kalai Arangam in Vellore, was arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe from magician Jadugar Anand, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations Department placed him under suspension on Thursday.

The director of information and public relations J Kumaragurubaran sent an official communication to the DIPRO regarding this.  “We received the official communication from our director. We also served the suspension order to Anna Kalaignar,” PRO Bala Sakthidhasan, whose name also surfaced in the case, said.

He would be soon summoned for inquiry as Anna Kalaignar had said he had acted as per the direction of the former, DVAC officials said.

The sleuths of DVAC, acting on a complaint against the manager Anna Kalaignar (30), and the staff of DIPRO, for demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000, had laid a trap and caught them red-handed. They had also nabbed theatre operator K Balaraman.
