Even as the fate of pilgrims from the district stranded in Uttarakhand remains unknown, it has now come to light that one of them has died.
Vijaya Baskaran of Villupuram, a diabetic, died due to unavailability of food and medicine while she was staying in a camp, a survivor has informed via phone. The other person, L R Babu, a native of Villupuram, was trapped in the flash floods.
According to information received from the Villupuram helpline, Sridhar, son of Vijaya Baskaran, and K Prasad, relative of another pilgrim, had petitioned the Collector seeking help. A top official in Uttarakhand, said, “We are trying to locate others from Villupuram. They are stranded between Kedarnath and Gaurikund.”
