Three rowdies were arrested for attacking the cashier of a bar and demanding mamool from him near Jeeva Nagar here on Thursday night.
Grand Bazaar Sub Inspector Sivakumar said the trio - Chandru (21), Rajkumar (22) and Vicky (23) - barged into the bar on 45-feet road on Th-ursday night and demanded free beer, besides `2,000. When the cashier Selvam refused, the trio ransacked the bar and beat him up with a beer bottle. Those in the bar ran helter-skelter.
A complaint was registered and the three were apprehended by the police.
Police said that Chandra was involved in a number of cases, including one of attempt to murder. The three accused were remanded to judicial custody at Kalapet jail.
Meanwhile, Orleanpet police arrested two women - Mallika (50) of Arumbathapuram and Kavitha (35) of Shanmughapuram - for soliciting men for immoral activities, near the new bus stand.
