3 held for bird poaching in Vedaranyam

A team of forest personnel nabbed three men for their attempts to poach migratory water birds near Vedaranyam on Sunday.

A team of forest personnel nabbed three men for their attempts to poach migratory water birds near Vedaranyam on Sunday. All the three were nabbed by the forest personnel and a sum of `40,000 as consolidated penalty slapped on them for poaching.

According to forest department officials, the three were identified as Rajkumar (30) son of Chokkalingam hailing from Settipulam village, Sakthivel (19) son of Dhanapal, and Manickam (70), son of Kaliappan, both hailing from Thanikotagam village near Vedaranyam, were secured by the forest personnel. The trio were detained on Sunday from their hamlets.
