A Centre of Excellence (COE) on Safe Injection Practices at JIPMER was inaugurated by director of JIPMER Dr T S
Ravikumar on Wednesday. This is the second such centre in the country in the government sector. The first one is in Kochi General Hospital set up by the State National Rural Health Mission.
The centre established with technical collaboration with Becton, Dickinson (BD) and Company, a leading global medical company, will have two components. The existing injection room in the OutPatient Department complex has been remodelled in a patient- friendly environment and shall be using best practices for ensuring safer injections to all patients, said the hospital authorities.
The injection room will also demonstrate practical aspects of injection techniques to trainee doctors and nurses. Besides, a training room will be used for imparting classroom training on safe injection practices.
