Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Monday appealed to the Sri Lankan Tamils to participate in the September 21 elections to the northern province and vote for the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) which has promised to unite the northern and eastern province and revive the civil administration, besides demilitarising the Tamil areas.

“At a time when the demand for an international probe into the genocide of Tamils is gaining momentum, it is necessary to show the world that Tamils are united. This elections should be utilised as an opportunity for it”, he said, in a statement here.

In his view, the Tamil National Alliance’s manifesto offered hope for demilitariasation, revival of democratic institutions besides bringing reconciliation among the Tamils and the Tamil speaking Muslims of the region.

The VCK also noted that the Chief Ministerial  candidate of the Tamil National Alliance, C V Wigneswaran, a former Supreme Court Judge of the island nation, is a visionary leader committed to unifying the North and East, the traditional homeland of the Tamils.
