Due to heavy downpour on Sunday evening, a rock from Saidapet hill rolled down and crashed into a house. However, no injury or damage was reported.
Vellore MLA Dr V S Vijay and Corporation Mayor P Karthiyayini inspected the house and held inquiries with the owner of the house. Around 4.30 pm heavy showers were experienced for more than an hour.
According to data from the meteorological office, between Sunday 8 am and Monday 8 am, Arakkonam received the highest rainfall of 43.6 mm. In other locations it was: Vellore 37.3 mm, Arcot 31mm, Walajah 25mm, Kaveripakkam 22.4mm, Sholinghur 9mm, Alangayam 8.1mm, Vaniyambadi 7.4mm, Ambur 7.2mm, Gudiyattam 6.3mm, Tirupathur 6.3mm and Melalathur 3.8 mm.
