A writ plea has been made in the Madras High Court for a direction to the authorities concerned to transfer the Central Railway Station bomb blast case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and direct the Indian Railways to pay a compensation of `25 lakh to the family members of Swathi, the blast victim.
In his PIL, advocate M Durai Selvan submitted that Swathi, a computer engineer died and many others were injured in the twin bomb blast in Chennai Central Railway station on May 1. The terror attack was unleashed in Guwahati express at Chennai Central prior to the Lok Sabha polls. The explosions took place on a day when the then BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi was scheduled to address public meetings in Southern parts of Andhra Pradesh, through which the train was to run through.
The Indian Railways and the Southern Railway have failed to ensure the safety of the passengers. The incident has posed a threat to the nation and the accused must be nabbed at the earliest. Such terror strikes, posing threat to security, integrity and sovereignty of the nation, must be probed by central probe agencies as per the National Investigating Agency Act 2008.
TN government has transferred the case to CB-CID. But, in the interest of the nation, the case should be transferred to NIA.
