Co-op workers to get insurance cover

CHENNAI: CM J Jayalalithaa announced that the health insurance scheme would be extended to the 60,000 employees of various cooperative institutions in TN. The cooperative societies and its employees would equally share the insurance premium of `12.54 crore. Making a statement under Rule 110 in the Assembly, she said `6.90 crore has been earmarked to modernise 100 agriculture cooperative loan societies during the current financial year. New buildings would be constructed for 18 branches of Central Cooperative Banks at a cost of `12.60 crore. She further said, 21 new branches of cooperative banks would be started at a cost of `2.19 crore, adding mobile banking facility would be launched by TN State Apex Cooperative Bank at a cost of `1 crore.
