PUDUCHERRY: The Madras High Court has issued a non-bailable warrant against District Collector Dr S B Deepak Kumar for disobeying the orders of the court with regard to issue of Form C licence, which is a mandatory requirement to run a theatre under the Pondicherry Cinema Regulations Act.
Justice T Raja issued the order on a contempt petition filed by Balaji Theatre following the Collector’s refusal to issue Form C licence despite an order from the HC to that effect.
Advocate D Ravichander appeared for the petitioner in the case. The Puducherry Government Pleader appeared on behalf of the Union Territory government.
After hearing both parties and taking note of the fact that the District Collector disobeyed its orders, the High Court issued a non-bailable warrant against the Collector to produce him before it on August 11.
