Ramadoss Welcomes BJP MP Tarun Vijay for Hailing Tamil

CHENNAI: Hailing BJP MP from Uttarkhand, Tarun Vijay for urging the Centre to introduce Tamil as an optional language in North Indian schools as a step to strengthen national unity and that Thiruvalluvar day be declared as the Indian Languages Day, PMK founder S Ramadoss on Saturday said the BJP government at the Centre should understand the significance of the demands made by Vijay.

In a statement here, Ramadoss said no leader from Tamil Nadu had made such demands so far.  “We do not demand any concession for Tamil language. What we demand is our right. Apart from the demands of Tarun Vijay, Tirukkural should be declared as the National Book and the Centre should allocate more funds for research on Tamil language,” he said. All the 22 languages in Schedule VIII should be declared national languages and Tamil Nadu should be the official language in Madras High Court, he added.
