'Take Action Against Schools defying Law'

CHENNAI: S Ramanathan, District Chairman of Kisan-Khetamazoor Congress, Krishnagiri, has appealed to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to take action on the report submitted by the Expert Committee constituted by the government to identify the issue relating to land holding of private schools.

In a representation to the CM, with a copy to the School Education Secretary last week, Ramanathan submitted that about 800 private schools, which do not possess the required land despite grant of extension of time twice, were denied renewal of licence.

However, the schools have admitted students. The students studying in those schools and their parents are badly affected as the issue is still hanging.

The future of the students has become a question mark and the parents are subjected to mental agony.

Ramanathan appealed to the CM to take a final decision on the Expert Panel’s report, submitted to the government last year, and set at rest the matter.
