'Educate Kids about Indian Culture'

PUDUCHERRY: A three-day workshop-cum-art exhibition on cultural education organised by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) began here on Wednesday. The workshop aims to impart training to government school teachers to evoke students’ interest in Indian culture.

G Nalina, district resource person of CCRT, said 40 teachers attended the workshop, which comprised live demonstrations, speeches and performing arts.

Dr P V Prabhakar, assistant professor with the Bharathiyar Palkalaikoodam, inaugurated the workshop and stressed the need to educate students on Indian culture at a very young age.  Uma Mohan of AIR spoke on reading and writing, while A Ravi performed a veena recital and spoke about Indian classical music instruments.

The workshop organised at Kadirgamam Girls Higher Secondary School, will end on Friday.
