CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has announced that it would confer the Chief Minister’s Police Medal on twelve officers. While the announcement has been made on the occasion of Independence Day, the actual presentation of the medals by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa would take place at a different ceremony.
The announcement from the Home, Prohibition and Excise Department said that 10 of the recipients were being awarded the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for Excellence in Investigation while two would get the chief Minister’s Police Medal for Excellence in Public Service. Both awards come with an eight gram gold medal and a cash award of `5000.
The Public Service medals have been awarded to M Pandian, SP at the Special Branch CID, and Ara. Arularasu, SP with the Special Division of the Special Branch CID.
The Excellence in Investigation medals are to be awarded to ASP L Balaji Saravanan (Tiruppur), Inspectors P Arockiaraj (Namakkal District), M Dineshkumar (Trichy District), S Syed Babu (Tiruppur City), S Sivasubbu (Cuddalore District), M Kanagasabapathy (Coimbatore City), JK Gopi (Coimbatore City), KT Rajanbabu (Madurai City) and S Chandramohan (Coimbatore City) and Sub-Inspector S Meenachisundaram (Sivaganga District).
