CHENNAI: A 36-year-old man was arrested at Thiruvallur on Wednesday for killing his father as he was angered by his decision to transfer a house owned by him to his step-mother.
Police said the accused Sridhar, a construction worker, had met his father Marimuthu (56), a pump operator with the municipality, in a pump house on Monday night where he was working on a night duty.
“There was a dispute between Sridhar and Marimuthu as the latter said he is going to transfer his house to his second wife. Sridhar questioned his father over this. During the heated argument, he assaulted him with a wooden log and Marimuthu swooned in the pump house,” said a police officer.
As there was none present in the pump house, only on Tuesday morning people noticed him lying unconscious and took him to hospital. He was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and he succumbed in the evening.
