2 From Odisha Held for Bid to Abuse Girl

CHENNAI: Two migrant workers from Odisha, Sekar Pradhan (25) and Purushotaman Pradhan (31) were arrested on Sunday on charges of attempting to sexually abuse an eight-year-old girl at Naduveeranpattu village in Kancheepuram district.

Police said the two were in an inebriated state when they forcefully took away the child around 6 pm. “The child was accompanying her mother to a shop. As they were returning, the child was walking a bit away and the accused took her away,” said a Somangalam police officer. Both were remanded to judicial custody.
