CHENNAI: An LPG tanker rolled into a ditch and came to a halt damaging a power transformer after the driver lost control over it near Kannaigaipair in Periyapalayam, early on Wednesday.
Police said the power lines got snapped under the impact of the collision, thus averting a mishap. The driver Anand Kumar (31), escaped with minor injuries.
The tanker which left Ennore past midnight was on the Grand Northern Trunk Road at 4 am when the driver lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road. The tanker turned half turtle and came to a halt after hitting the transformer.
Fire and Rescue Personnel lifted the tanker from the spot. Safety officers from the Oil Corporations were also present during the two-hour-long operation.
