Karnataka Co-op to Supply Milk to City Caterers

CHENNAI: The Karnataka Co-operative Milk Producers’ Federation (KCMPF) is set to take its flagship brand, Nandini Milk, to one of the most lucrative markets in Chennai - its caterers.

Officials from the cooperative society promoted the Nandini brand to several of Chennai’s caterers through the Chennai Caterers Association (CCA) on Tuesday.

“We started in the Chennai market a few months ago. The response has been pretty good. So we thought about how to further expand in the market and realised that the catering market is one of the largest consumers of milk. This is a way to tap into that market,” said a KCMPF spokesperson.

The brand and the product had apparently been vetted by the CCA before KCMPF was invited to promote the product before a large audience of caterers.

“About 1,000 litres of milk were procured from us in order to check its quality and the CCA has deemed that it is of good quality,” said the official.

In fact KCPMF is so confident of being successful that it is expecting an average of 1,000 litres to be sold to caterers in Chennai. “And when wedding season is in progress we expect as much as 2,000 litres,” he said.
