TIRUCHY: The Childline officials rescued a two-and-a-half-year-old boy, who was found lying on the roadside in Bheema Nagar in the city, on Saturday. The boy was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) who recommended medical assessment and treatment for the child. The boy’s father is said to be a habitual alcoholic.
The committee traced the boy’s mother on Tuesday evening. She had abandoned the baby with the husband after a family dispute. Officials handed over the baby to her, and asked her to produce her other children also before the committee within a week, to ensure their health condition.
