Vellore Seat Set off Tussle

CHENNAI: DMK deputy general secretary K Duraimurugan’s resignation from the party post is said to be a fallout of a wrangle over the Vellore (Central) district secretary’s post for his son Kathir Anand. Earlier, during the Parliamentary elections, Duraimurugan’s supporters alleged that the allocation of Vellore to the IUML was a tactical ploy to deny Kathir an opportunity to contest.

When the IUML candidate lost the seat, there were counter allegations that Duraimurugan’s supporters were responsible for the defeat of the candidate.
