TIRUCHY: In a dramatic turn of events, the husband of a 20-year-old woman allowed her to unite with her lover after she confessed her love for him on the night of their wedding. The woman married her lover at a temple in Thuraiyur on Friday.
According to sources, Haripriya (name changed), a resident of Venkatachalapuram, got married to Kumar (name changed), of Thuraiyur, on Wednesday. The wedding took place at the bride’s house and the couple left for the groom’s house in the evening.
Later that night, Haripriya kept weeping for a long time. When Kumar asked, she told him that she was in love with a lorry driver. Her parents, however, had arranged her marriage and she unwillingly accepted, she told Kumar and requested him to help her unite with her lover. Kumar decided to get them united and informed the elders about it. Subsequently, both the parents discussed the marriage of Haripriya with her lover and decided to return the `1 lakh Kumar had spent for the marriage.
