CHENNAI: Internal elections within the DMK for various party posts seem to be a thriving business.

The contestants are dishing out expensive gifts, including smart phones, two- wheelers and plots, to party functionaries.

Even the division of the existing units into 65 districts has not dampened the spirit of the old war horses, not to mention their heirs and their rivals locking horns for the district leadership of the outfit.

By and large, it looks like the stamp of Stalin would be writ large in the forthcoming list of district secretaries.

The Chennai unit  was divided into four and it  is witnessing a contest mostly among the loyalists of party heir-apparent M K Stalin.

A supporter of MP Kanimozhi and MLA J Anbalagan who is on his own, are the other contestants.

Even in the neighbouring districts of Chennai, supporters of  Stalin hold sway.
