Tiger Attacks Trekker Near Mullaiperiyar

CUMBUM: A tourist from Mumbai had a miraculous escape after being attacked by a Tiger in the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR) near Thekkady during a trekking expedition organised by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) on Tuesday, officials said.  

Bhuvaneswar (35) ventured into the forest along with officials for trekking when the big cat pounced upon him. Bhuvaneswar was injured on his neck and head. However, the forest personnel managed to chase the tiger into the forest, the sources added. Officials brought back Bhuvaneswar to Thekkady via Mullaiperiyar dam on boat.  His condition is said to be stable.
