MADURAI: Former Union Minister M K Alagiri on Monday denied the claims of actor-turned politician Napolean, who said that he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) only after receiving blessings from the Madurai strongman.
Napolean, a key supporter of the (Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam) DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi’s son Alagiri till he was with the party, told media persons that he joined the BJP with whole-hearted wishes of Alagiri.
Stoutly denying the statement of Napolean, Alagiri said, “When the DMK was in power in the state, several realtors misused my name and now the DMK functionaries are misusing my name and deserting the party. For instance, Ramanathapuram MP J K Riteesh also drew my name when he joined the AIADMK,” Alagiri told reporters here on Monday.
Flaying Napolean for misusing his name, the former union minister said, “Napolean met me a month ago when he visited my home on his birthday. After that he never met me,” he said.
