Woman Cop In Soup for False Sex Complaint

VELLORE: The district police have reportedly issued a memo to a woman constable for levelling false charges of sexual harassment against an inspector of Tirupattur sub-division.

Sources in the police department said the grade I constable, who is working in the Jolarpet police station, had informed her husband, who is in the Army, that the inspector had sent her obscene text messages.

The constable’s husband had complained about it senior cops, a few months ago.

Following this, d a four-member Visakha committee comprising DSP of Tirupattur A Sujatha, PA to SP (Administration), All Women Police Station-Tirupattur inspector and an NGO representative was formed to probe the issue.

The committee questioned both sides as well as other police personnel in the station. It was then found that the constable’s charge were false.  She too later reportedly admitted to levelling false charges against the inspector since he had posted her on government hospital duty that involved night duty, and did not permit her to go on leave.

The committee forwarded the report to the then SP, P Vijayakumar, who in turn sent it to senior officers. Then, she was issued a memo seeking explanation. Based on her explanation, departmental action against her will be decided, said sources.
